A Plasmonic Sensor Based on D-shaped Dual-core Microchannel Photonic Crystal Fiber

In this paper, a dual-core microchannel-based fiber sensor is studied by using finite element method in the visible and near-infrared bands. Plasmonic material gold (Au) deposited microchannel to generate surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect, so that can detect change RI of its surrounding analyte. Simulation results show maximum wavelength sensitivity resolution are 33600 nm/RIU 2.97 × 10−6RIU for y polarization range 1.33 1.44, respectively. The highest figure merit (FOM) 961 polarization. addition, we study effects brought structural changes sensor, design “microchannel coating” dramatically improves refractive index (RI) detection ability sensor. D-shaped photonic crystal proposed paper has simple structure, low manufacturing complexity, high sensitivity. Combined with external sensing technology, great application potential fields biotechnology, medical diagnosis, environmental protection.

We study nonlinear modes of dual-core photonic crystal fiber couplers made of a material with the focusing Kerr nonlinearity. We find numerically the profiles of symmetric, antisymmetric, and asymmetric nonlinear modes and analyze all-optical switching generated by the instability of the symmetric mode.
